Projekt Titan
The song I created for the contest uses only elements of the Titan Beta packages. To make it easier to understand which samples I used and that they are only Titan samples, I decided to primarily use loops for the melody and to use these samples as chopped-up-samples only in certain places. However, for the drums all samples were chopped up and layered in general. The song uses a lot of samples that are opposing in their mood and creates a new, unique mood out of it, which features a working mix of dramatic, relaxed, sad and happy sounding samples. The style of the song is strongly oriented to the hip hop of the 1990s, but over the bridges to the chorus the typical tonal balance changes to a more modern one and then finds its way back to the starting point. The drums use many layered samples from the following stem-folders: Cobalt, Costa, Payback, Demon, Playboy, Maria, Trigger, Space, Caviar. The melody draws 12 samples from the Cloud Nine (Bass/Keys), Shank (Strings/Vocals), Sub Zero (Strings, Bells, Keys), Crush (Stabs), Holyland (Bells), Hazmat (Drone swells) and Strain (Vocals) stem-folders. Throughout the song there are many subtle changes via automation. Can you discover them all?
