The Majors

That soul loop is perhaps one of my favorite Cymatics samples I've come across. Fantastic work! Love what you guys do. Here's a brief overview of how I made the beat: I approached it very much like I would when sampling vinyl, first starting with drums. I grabbed a drum break from AJ Hall, and began chopping it up to give it this heavy swing. Then once I had a slick drum loop, I began chopping the sample itself. These piano chops were really speaking to me. I chopped until I had a few sections to begin arranging. Then I came back through and started detailing with the "PLUCK Snow" one shot which I found in the sessions kit. After that, I continued detailing with some sax samples courtesy of noiiz. Then I came in with the upright bass from the Komplete Kontrol plugin I got from Native Instruments. Finally, I finished it off with a few risers to tie the track together, and then all I had left was outro. Sometimes I like to let the sample ride a bit, so that listeners can appreciate the process of sampling through having the context of hearing the sample play out. So that's what I did, I let the sample ride at the end, however I made a few modifications: 1) I layered on a trumpet (that sounded nice and spicy 2) I added in cheering, cause I felt I needed some applause lol, and 3) I processed it all together through a tape processor to give it some vintage warmth. After finishing this beat, I posted it on beatstars in hopes that I might get some rappers on this. Then I distributed it through distrokid to get it on my Spotify (currently 1,127 monthlies). I placed it as the 6th track on my Jazzy HipHop playlist, which is in the top 5 "Jazzy HipHop" playlists on Spotify at the time of writing this. Now, I am about to post all over social media to show off my submission for the SESSIONS song contest hosted by Cymatics. This will include me showing this to my ~1.3k TapDaddy discord server as well as my ~1.7k twitch community. Anyways, sorry for the novel haha. Just wanted to sincerely say thank you to Cymatics for hosting this competition and for always pelting me with sample packs in your emails. Whenever I hear something soulful and old from you guys, I have a lot of fun chopping and flipping it in front of my Twitch audience. My audience is somewhat familiar with Cymatics now that I've flipped a few of your samples in front of them (always shouting out the sample creator). If I win this contest, I look forward to having a fat stack of Cymatics samples to pull out anytime I'm cooking on stream. Thanks again, - Tap
