U (feat. Sabrielle)

D. VOTINO - "U" (Producer Royale: Round 3) "U" is an etherial retro-futuristic love song imagine out of dreamy syncopated synths, spacey leads, funky guitars and glitchy vocals. Samples utilized from the Producer Royale Round 3 Kit include Savannah Drum Loop, and individually, the Savannah Kick, Shaker, Snare and Hi Hats. Additional Cymatic samples such as City Lights, Gravity Tonal Reverse, and Waveracer contribute to the vibe. Signature to the track is the Cymatics Dejavu plugin affectionately dubbed "the dystopian mood button". There are no illegal/uncleared samples in this entry. The track runs four minutes to the frame at 78 bpm in A# minor. "U" was produced in Logic using over a hundred tracks and countless edits to create the unique glitch vocals that tease the eventual hook. The voices featured on the track are female artist, Sabrielle and D. Votino. Guitars played by D. Votino and Lee Houk. MIDI and VI production by D. Votino. About myself: After a hiatus from music for almost 30 years (minus a few studio sessions here and there), (I'm 54) this has been a thrilling project, forcing me to learn new tools and workflows. I literally feel like I'm living in the future. I was amazed by the sample packs and have downloaded more than my hard drive can handle. The entire song "U" was edited in my living room from a granny-core arm chair on a nine year old Macbook with an ancient pair of Sony headphones. My wife actually got me replacement ear pads because they were leaving little black speck on the furniture. My midi controller is a 24-key Akai mini that I got for Christmas. Sound checks were done in the car (just like the old days) and by the borrowed ears of friends in the industry over long distances. While I'm submitting the version with vocals, here is a link to the uncompressed files, including a Music Only mix (http://tinyurl.com/u-by-d-votino). The goal is publish to steaming platforms in time for V-Day as long as it will not take it out of the running (please let me know if that will be a problem). Kindest Regards, D. Votino
